/ Minocqua Dragon Boat Festival Activities

Opening Ceremony

The spirits of the dragon boats sleep in the mountains until they are awoken by Taoist priests during the Eye Dotting Ceremony. The Awakening of the Dragon Ceremony is conducted to cleanse the area of competition, to bless the competitors and their boats, and to charge the boats and their crews with the Spirit of the Dragon and the Goddess of the Sea.

Watch the Race

Check out the exciting dragon boat races, right in Torpy Park in Downtown Minocqua!  Teams race 300m from East to West, finishing in front of Torpy Park’s swimming beach by BJ’s Sportshop in an intense display of strength and teamwork.
